FAQs.
There’s no such thing as a stupid question… but please check below and if you still can’t find what you’re looking for, give us a call.
Bali.
Why are you making us come all the way to Bali?
Firstly, we all need a HUGE holiday after the unexpected challenges of the last few years, so why not do it properly. Without wanting to sound too cliché, Bali has a special place in our hearts. It was one of the first places we ever came on holidays together, and has everything we love - the sun, friendly people, great food, drinks and it's so damn relaxing (traffic aside). Every time we come back, we feel like we're home. And depending on who you ask (Mon), it also happens to be smack bang in the middle of both of our home countries.
Right, now that we're in Bali, what is there to do?
There is so much to do once you're in Bali. We’ve added a “Travel” page to this website, with some of our favourite things to do in Bali. If you want any advice or have any questions in the meantime, drop us a line.
Which airport is closest?
Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport. If you find yourself anywhere else, go to the Information Desk ASAP.
Where can I stay?
The official wedding events will all be in Canggu, so if you want to limit taxi time, you're best staying around there. Seminyak isn't too far away either. If you're making an extended holiday of it, we recommend staying in a few different places across the island. We've put some hotel recommendations for Seminyak, Canggu and Ubud in the "Travel" page of the website (we’re staying at Hotel Villa Lumbung from 24th to 29th June if you want to join).
Have you reserved hotel room blocks?
We haven’t - due to Covid, most hotels are already offering preferential rates to entice visitors back to Bali. In the "Travel" section of the website, we’ve included a number of recommendations, ranging from luxury accommodation to the very-affordable. We’re staying at Hotel Villa Lumbung from 24th to 29th June, if you’d like to join us there - the more the merrier! There are some lovely Airbnb properties around too, if you'd prefer a villa.
So.. There's a wedding. What else is happening?
We have Sunset Welcome Drinks on Wednesday 28th June and a Recovery BBQ on Sunday 2nd July. We’d obviously love to see you at all events, but nothing is compulsory - we just ask that you let us know if you can make it, for catering purposes.
Who else is coming? Will there be any other chances to catch up?
There will hopefully be quite a few people arriving in the week leading up to the wedding, and/or staying the week after. If you're going to be around - and want to join us for an added activity or two, just let us know! We plan on doing a Sunday Brunch for those of you that arrive early (on 25 June) and will head out for dinner and drinks (on 27 June). Venues TBC.
Sunset Welcome Drinks.
What's the deal with the Welcome Drinks?
As people are coming from so many different places, we thought it'd be nice to give you the chance to meet each other over a few drinks before the wedding. If you're the kind of person that'd rather save their small talk for the wedding, absolutely no problem at all. We'll see you there instead!
Where are the Welcome Drinks?
At The Lawn in Canggu. We'll be in the Beach Lounge from 4pm, but if you fancy drinks/food/swimming before that, The Lawn is open to the public from midday. You can book sun beds if you want a lazy afternoon, too. Just don't forget to bring something to change into, if you're swimming.
Are children welcome at the Welcome Drinks on the Wednesday?
Of course. We'd love to see them there. We've chosen The Lawn so kids will be able to have a swim if they get a bit bored (especially once the bar tab runs out).
Bar tab at Welcome Drinks?
Naturally. We'll have money behind the bar at the Welcome Drinks. Please come early to take advantage of it.
RSVP.
When should I RSVP by?
1 March 2023 please.
What if something changes and we need to change our RSVP?
We understand things come up. Please just email us right away at HannayEverAfter@outlook.com so we can let our wedding planner know.
I'm having issues RSVP-ing online
Try turning it on/off again. If all else fails, send us an email at HannayEverAfter@outlook.com or give one of us a call.
The Wedding.
What time should I arrive for the wedding?
Refreshments will be served from 3.30pm. We'd like everyone seated with plenty of time to start the ceremony at 4pm (our wedding planner is slightly terrifying, so please be there on time).
Where is the wedding ceremony?
At Villa the Sanctuary, Bali. The address is: Banjar Batanduren, Jl. Desa Cepaka, Cepaka, Kec. Kediri, Kabupaten Tabanan, Bali 80351, Indonesia.
Where is the reception?
At the same location as the ceremony.
How do I get there?
There are multiple taxi companies (e.g. Bluebird) and/or your hotel will happily arrange transport for you. Please allow plenty of time as traffic in Bali can be crazy and unpredictable.
For the same reason, we don't recommend that you drive yourself. If you do choose to drive, there are a couple of free parking spots on site.
What is the dress code for the wedding?
Excellent question! We googled "how do we tell men that a three piece suit isn't necessary, but please don't show up in boardies and thongs." Apparently this is "Garden Cocktail".
So gents - trousers or dressy shorts are fine. Jackets are optional, but if you're feeling suave, please go all out.
For the ladies - you'll all look gorgeous in cocktail attire, please just remember to wear shoes that are suitable for grass. And it will be hot, so we want you all to be comfortable.
What kind of shoes should I wear to the wedding?
We don't want anyone to upstage the bridal party, so no crocs or thongs (i.e. jandals/flip flops). Both the ceremony and reception are on grass, so please wear appropriate shoes (ladies)!
Will there be an open bar?
Of course! A full bar will be available after the ceremony through to the end of the night.
When will the reception end?
For anyone that wants to kick on past midnight, the reception will be officially moved to the pool area. Drinks will be served and music will be played there for as long as people are standing. The lovely staff at Villa The Sanctuary Bali will happily call you a cab at any hour (unless you’d prefer to sleep on a sun lounger beneath the stars - sounds much more glamorous than we imagine it will be).
Is there parking available near the venue?
Yes, you can park at the venue at no charge. However, you're probably going to need a stiff drink after driving on Bali roads, so you might not be able to drive home.
Can I bring a plus one?
Oh la la. In order to keep our guest list on track we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation/envelope. Please feel free to e-mail us with any questions.
Are my children invited?
We love ALL of your children however we have decided to make the wedding and reception an adults-only affair. We hope you understand. 2020, 2021 and 2022 appear to have been the years of love (lockdown well spent), and we know that many of you have just popped out (or soon will) little ones.
Please do get in touch if you want recommendations for babysitters, as we'll be making use of them ourselves. There are a limited number of nannies that can be hired to look after children at the Sanctuary, please get in touch for more info.
Will the ceremony be taking place inside or outdoors?
Outdoors. We've timed the ceremony and reception to make it as comfortable as possible. But it'll be hot, so please dress appropriately.
Will there be food and drinks served?
Across the day, there will be canapés, a sit-down dinner and of course, wedding cake. Our aim is that you won't go thirsty at any point, either.
What type of food will be served?
We’re still finalising the menu. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please let us know when you RSVP.
Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free options?
Please indicate if you have a special dietary requirement when RSVP-ing. Also, if you have any questions, email us at HannayEverAfter@outlook.com. We want you to be safe and comfortable.
Can we take pictures?
Our photographer/videographer will be wandering around all day, so please pose up a storm. We've asked professionals to capture this special moment so that you can sit back, relax and enjoy it with us.
Feel free to take pictures during the ceremony, although we ask that you don’t obstruct the photographer or other guests' view. If you could send any photos to us after the wedding, we'd really appreciate it. If you’re going to post photos at any of the events on Instagram, please use #HannayEverAfter.
Is there a wedding hashtag?
Yes, there is. Sienna set it up for us, as she now manages all of our socials. If you're going to post any photos, please add #HannayEverAfter. It'll be great for us to have all of your pics in the one place. Please don't disappoint her.
Will I need cash at the wedding?
It won't be that kind of entertainment. The only thing you might need cash for is a taxi home.
Where are you registered?
We're happy just having you there and we understand what a huge effort it is for everybody, travelling all that way. If you feel uneasy not buying us anything, we'd be very appreciative if you wanted to donate to our honeymoon fund. We’ve added a link to the Registry on the “Gifts” page of this website, so you can find everything there.
Recovery BBQ.
What's the plan for the Recovery BBQ?
It's exactly what it says on the tin. Come on back to the Villa anytime from 1pm the next day (unless you haven’t left, in which case, we just ask that you shower) as the lovely staff will be cooking up a storm for everybody - barbecued meats and salads. If hair-of-the-dog is your hangover cure of choice, you'll also be in the right place. And bring your swimmers, as it will be hot and we might give Paulsy control of the microphone, so underwater could be the safest place to be.
Are children welcome at the Recovery BBQ?
Of course. Everyone loves barbecued children. Especially when hungover. We'd love to have them there.
